“Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol: A Four-Week Bible Study for Advent.”
The classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge is a cherished symbol of the Christmas season. Yet the little story of Scrooge’s transformation is also a wonderful story of redemption and hope – which makes it a perfect study for Advent. The discussion guide incorporates the story itself with study of scripture, engaging activities, and thought-provoking discussion starters.
Copies of the study book will be provided, and four copies of A Christmas Carol are available for those who do not own a copy of the book. If you have one, please use that.
The meeting dates and time will be determined by your availability between December 3rd and 31st.
If you would like to participate in this study, please respond to me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by email or text (eileenfmfreeman@gmail.com/845 242-1357).
Two Mid-Week Worship Services for Advent on One Night!
Wednesday, December 20th at 7:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
In this busy holiday season are you feeling anxious or stressed and longing for some moments of peace?
In this joyous time of celebration, are you sorrowing with the pain of loss or grief, and longing to feel the compassionate love of God?
On Wednesday, December 20th, the eve of the winter solstice, just before the longest night of the year and the beginning of winter, two short (30 minutes) worship services will be held back-to-back.
You are invited to experience the solace of either or both!
***If you come only for the first service or only for the second service, please exit or enter silently.***
The first service, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., will be “A Dickens of a Time or ‘Passing the Ghost.’”
As we light the four Advent candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, we will pray, sing, hear scripture, and think about “The Ghost of Christmas Past (a Christmas memory), “The Ghost of Christmas Present (a hope for this Christmas), and “The Ghost of Christmas Future” (prayers of intercession).
The second, which will begin at 7:45 p.m., will be a Blue Christmas service.
In this service we will acknowledge our feelings of loneliness, sadness, loss, and sorrow; hear the assurances of scripture; sing, pray; and give thanks as we light candles for remembered loved ones.
Christmas Shoeboxes
Dutchess Outreach Acts of Kindness will collect and distribute to local children in need.
Fill a shoebox-size box with things like coloring books, gloves, hair accessories, candy, matchbox cars, crayons, etc. Use your imagination and be creative. Then WRAP and label it for “girl” or “boy” and appropriate age (ex. ages 5-7 or 10-12). There is always a need for boxes for teenagers. Suggestions: small amount gift cards, puzzle books, gloves, scarves, etc. Due date will be Monday afternoon, December 11th. Questions to Karin 845-226-7061

Church Offerings
In these unprecedented times, the impact of our church has become more important even as gatherings in our facilities have decreased. Hungry people are being fed, and the most vulnerable are receiving care and encouragement. During these difficult times we continue to pay all church employees and our regular expenses, so we need everyone's continued contributions. You can help in any of these ways:
